Week 6 - Shoot A Scene
Shoot and edit a 2 - 4 min video documenting a scene or event.
There is something therapeutic about the repetitive process of making coffee every morning. Knowing how you like it and making it that way all the time, and this is the feeling I tried to create in my video. I really tried to follow some inspiration from the video I shared in my discussion post, with quick clips that match the audio, and no voiceover. I tried to take a different angle to my discussion post video and try to find the joy in things that some may find monotonous. This angle inspired the music choice, and I chose the color corrections to try and almost replicate that of the start of an early 2000s film. I have experience using Adobe Premier Rush mostly, so I made sure to push myself by using the more complex Adobe Premiere Pro. My previous experience using video editing has been using stock videos and editing them to fit a narrative I have, so the filming element of this assignment was the most challenging element for me. I tried to get some wide shots and some close shots, all without really seeing my face in the video so that the person watching could almost go through this process with me.
My final video ended up being slightly different from my storyboard as trying to think about how I make a coffee proved to be difficult, but when I got to filming it just flows like muscle memory! I also had the idea to try film the same action from different angles, I didn’t expect it to work and thought it could just be some fun B-roll, but it did work out well and I think it positively added to my video.
