Scotia Gas Networks invite interdisciplinary student teams to redesign & re-purpose old, derelict gas sites with 3 key values in mind: Biodiversity, Community & Climate Change. As a team leader and only designer in this team, a lot of the presentation concepts fell onto myself.
Our site will embrace biodiversity and tackle climate change by doing everything we can to lower our carbon footprint, achieve a Net-Zero target and enhance the environment for the local species to thrive. We are proposing creating a fully multi-functional outdoor area with 6 main areas. A biodiversity forest area, a wetland walkway, an outdoor adventure area, crop garden, housing and our hexabubble (our hexagon shaped arts hub). By doing all this we will create a positive space where a community can also thrive. Enjoy the amazing site we are creating while learning about what great things we are doing on our site. This project led to me presenting this idea at COP26, to the Environment Manager Scotland & NI of SGN who believed it was likely if this project would go ahead in Glenmavis, North Lanarkshire.
